Tips on sending flowers – even if you’re worlds apart

imageloadNo matter what your reason might be, a flower bouquet, an arrangement, a gift can send ones love, thoughts and caring warmth in a pleasant way.
Here are my 2 quick tips for sending flowers to someone, even if you’re worlds apart. You just have to choose the floral bouquet that you like and with some clicks you can send it anywhere in the world!

  1. Interflora – it’s the world’s largest and most popular flower delivery network. It can help you hand-deliver your floral message anywhere in the country and everywhere in the world!
On their site, you’ll be able to design your own bouquets, pick something from the catalog or ask the florists for suggestions.
I suggested this because I have worked with them, they’re very good, professionals.
  2. Or – you could contact directly the local florist in the vicinity of where you want to send flowers to (use Google search), and since most of the flower shops nowadays provide the option of ordering and paying online, arrange delivery with them.

Women vs Men

What do men have and women don’t? Why are they considered stronger? Why are women the beautiful ones?

It’s clear that we’ll never be the same, women and men. For the very simple reason that we’re different.
Women do some things better, men think they do everything better.
Women know that without us the world would stop existing, men imagine that it couldn’t go on without them.

Read an article about this in a magazine and couldn’t help but combine the facts with my witty comments ;) Enjoy!

  • Women know how to multitask:

The brain’s left and right hemisphere’s are tied together by a series of nerves that form something like a coaxial cable (I’m sure you can tell I’m not a doctor). This makes one part of the brain communicate very well with the other part, making the information exchange easy.
Well, with women, this nerve series is thicker than in men, having more than 30% more ties between hemispheres. That’s why women talk more fluently, find whatever you ask in a second and can manage multitasking with things of no apparent relation to one another.
Here’s where women’s intuition comes from too ;)

That’s the explanation why if you ask the most simplest question from a man reading his newspaper for example, he most likely won’t be able to concentrate on answering you until he finishes reading the news, folds the paper and you repeat the question for the 3rd time.
Or if you ask him to get you a jar of gem from the pantry even when he’s not doing anything, things get complicated: no matter how well-organized the pantry is, he won’t be able to find the jar unless you give him specific information like “The 2nd shelf from the top, 6th jar from the right”. The part of the brain that is responsible for the counting works relatively okay.

  • Men have analytical thinking:

Men are more attentive to general aspects of the problem, circumstances, how they can solve something according to the context.
Women on the other hand are more attentive to details that they can quickly build up to a good solution, not the “historic” context.

Men are eaten up by the financial crisis for example, where and why it started, while women are more concerned of the influence of the Euro’s rising on the money spent on food, clothes, etc.

  • Women are more emotional:

Seems like the part of the cortex responsible of emotions is bigger in women than men. This is why women cry more easily, are more impressed by other people’s joy or suffering, have more compassion.

So what if your hubby looks at you like you’re a nutcase for crying at the end of a movie? It’s scientifically proven it’s not your fault, but of the extra “bit” of cortex.

  • Men feel less pain:

It may be somewhat of a paradox that men feel less pain. But it’s true, during their lifetime men are subjected to less physical pain and their cerebral mechanisms make them feel lesser pain.

Okay, that being said I’m just wondering: why do men complain of a lousy headache as if they’re having triplets? …

  • Women hear better:

Women’s brains are programmed so they hear every breath of their child, even translate everything the baby is trying to transmit.
Men on the other hand have the ability to distinguish with higher accuracy where the sound is coming from and if it’s a threat to them or not.

This is why men don’t react to the baby crying in the middle of the night or the annoying noise the door makes because it needs oiling.
They know where the sound comes from, but it doesn’t bother them.

  • Men are more aggressive:

In women the nurturing instinct is the dominant one, in men the conqueror instinct, the battle provoking one.

Women give life so men have to do something too, men assure the necessary environment for that life to grow. We can give them the credit for it, that needs some initiative too, right?

  • Women’s brains age later:

Women’s brains age later and have more grey matter even if it’s of smaller proportions then in men, because nature prepared it better for survival.

Guess this is where middle aged men’s midlife crisis come from,  they imagine a younger women has a “rested” brain, like theirs.

  • Men are more inclined towards sex:

Testosterone is responsible for the inclination to have sex at any time, being released in higher quantities in men than women.

And this wouldn’t be a problem if they’d be inclined to have sex only with their girlfriends, wives. But testosterone doesn’t keep count of love declarations and wedding wows so most men should learn to think with their brains instead the family jewels…

  • Women smile more often:

Women smile more often than men because of the higher emotivity  and maternal instinct. A smile often replaces words, tears and even reproaches.

It’s also very good for your health and skin!!!

Homemade Exfoliating Body Scrub

Experiments on myself again ;). Like I said in my post about my new homemade, chemical free, environmentally friendly, amazingly effective shampoo and rinse, second on my list was to try making an exfoliating body scrub for myself.

There are millions of recipes on the internet, and after some research I decided to make my own recipe from the ingredients I had at home. It’s an amazing alternative to the over-priced, over-packaged, chemical loaded stuff you can buy from stores.

Exfoliating Body Scrub

Any kind of empty container with a lid
Sugar or mineral salt (less or as much as fits in the container)
Olive oil
Lavender essential oil
Butter-Vanilla essence (or just simply an essential oil mix of them)

All you need to do is mix the sugar/salt with the olive oil until it all looks like you can make a slightly wet ball out of it. Add a few drops of Lavender oil, a few drops of Butter-Vanilla essence and stir them until you can smell the scent evenly. Add a little bit of water if you like the scrub to be more runny, but don’t over add since it will melt the sugar/salt.
Apply it before you usually get soapy and scrub like you normally do with commercial body scrubs. It will leave your skin a bit oily, but it comes right off with the soap. Don’t use it more than 1-2 times a week, less is more!

It looks nice, smells even better (I felt like eating it) :P and it worked like a charm, gently exfoliated my skin leaving it soft like a baby’s skin.

I simply adore being able to home make my own cosmetic beauty products! It gives such a pleasure to know that I pay for them much less than store prices plus I always know when they’re made, all natural, I can make whatever amount I want to for a few times use or longer, AND it’s very easy to switch scents at any time, PLUS the scent possibilities are endless, you can mix together what ever scented essential oil you like best. These are big big plusses for me.

I’m determined to learn more recipes like for soap, body lotion, etc. (can’t wait to try everything) and if I can manage it: everyone’s Christmas present this year will be some cosmetic product I made myself! ;)

I wish for…

  1. bearable weather, it’s way too hot, then it’s raining, then it’s hot again… and I hate it, plus it affects my neck.
  2. health – in every way possible and not only for myself!
  3. the amount of peace, understanding, relaxation and anything else I need to be truly happy.
  4. a romantic getaway as soon as possible! – A few relaxing days alone with my Sweetheart in a nice place. Surrounded by mountains, woods, rivers, springs, lakes… any or more of these.
  5. time and the means to do everything I’d like to…

There are too many thing I wish for and it would be too much to type them all here, so this small list reflects my very first thoughts today.

Times change

On the streets around lunch time, walking around downtown, running errands. It was crowded, but not so much as to not be able to notice people around. I like to people watch when walking and not only, it helps time fly by faster, like a trick that helps me get wherever I’m going in less amount of time.

By chance or not, there were many teenagers around me, passed me by, mostly young girls. Interestingly enough, but actually not surprisingly, they were all wearing tons of make-up, had more rings on their fingers that there’s room for, wearing many earrings all through their ears, lip/eyebrow/(probably also tongue) piercings and with brightly (many many varieties to just simply black) colored hair. With tight and short clothes, whereas even a not necessarily careful look in the mirror would clearly state against that kind of outfits on their weighty silhouettes. Most all girls tend to fit to this portrait…

And don’t get me wrong, I’m not closed minded, nor stating that I’m a beauty queen. I like wearing tight clothes, but I’d never leave the house like those girls do if I didn’t look good in whatever I’m wearing, I have highlights, but I’d never color my hair to look like a parrot and I wouldn’t put so much make-up on that my face would fall off after 5 steps or be mistaken with a clown.

Not that I’m so much older now, not many years have passed since I was a teenager myself, but when I was their age it was different. It’s a sad reality and such examples are somewhat depressing to see, because the question is there: what will girls look like in another few years? How quickly and drastically times change…
